The startups solution may consist of connected sensors, use various information such as wall thickness and stiffness of equipment out of CAD drawing and sensors and might also use more than one testing technique. The ideal solution will be able to address:

• How can BASF continuously monitor equipment for chemical damage and identify areas where specific types of damage have taken place?
• Can connected sensors help determine how material changes impact the effectiveness of different machinery and materials?

Therefore, BASF is looking for next-generation solutions that ideally address the following questions:

• Could BASF use sensors, or IoT technologies to monitor plastic parts while they are in use?
• What tools could best monitor plastic processing technologies, such as injection moulding or foaming processes on an industrial level?
• Can the startup provide a solution that collects field data without interfering with the performance of materials?
• How could the seamless integration of sensors & lighting components in materials be showcased?

BASF is are looking for a startup that can identify vehicle surface damage, determine the severity of the damage and suggest required repairs. The expectation is that the crux of the startup’s solution will be image recognition technology. During the project the startup will need to address the following:

• Distinguish between car surface scratches, dents and other types of damage.
• Which datasets are most relevant and how can they be used to make repairs faster and easier?
• Integrate the solution to existing systems and communicate via REST API.

• How can a flexible screen be applied to any type of vehicle surface design?
• How can frequent car exterior customization be made faster and more feasible?
